The City’s early life pavement preservation program aims to preserve roadways’ asphalt surface while extending their service life. We’ve recently conducted pilot projects on specific roads with two preservation techniques, micro-surfacing and Reclamite. As a result, we anticipate a reduction in roadway maintenance costs and resurfacing construction. This will allow us to allocate funding to other needs throughout the City while minimizing disruption to residents and providing better roads.
|
As a part of the cities 2019 Capital Budget I put forth a motion to purchase additional LED radar boards which was passed unanimously. Traffic safety is of utmost importance. Additional radar boards were purchased in 2020 and more recently I have purchased two more that will be dedicated to Ward 7.

PROPOSED DEVELOPMENTS IN WARD 7
UPCOMING PROPOSALS

To ensure that Ward 7 residents are kept informed and have an ability to share their opinion on the applications, we will be hosting public meetings for residents to attend, post details about the applications here, and meet with the developers and city planning staff to ensure the applications are appropriate and good for the long-term growth of our city.

Throughout the years the city has several road repair and resurfacing projects on the go. This is as a result of the 1% Infrastructure Levy that was put in place several years ago. The dedicated fund has allowed the city to increase its investment in infrastructure significanatly. Click on the link to view the full list of infrastructure projects on the go.
Ping Street is a free smartphone app that lets you take a picture of a pothole, broken stop sign, or any other issue, add an explanation, & submit a work order for the city to follow up on! Keep track of local events, garbage day and special pick up dates.
Simple, convenient, & traceable (you can get a copy of your submission emailed to you), Ping Street is the best way to submit an issue to the city and have it followed up & resolved in a matter of days. |
Any property owner aged 65 or older and/or any individual who is currently receiving benefits under the Ontario Disability Support Program who has no outstanding property taxes can apply to have their property taxes “frozen” at their base year amount (the year prior to the application). The tax deferrals are interest free, however, the total deferral amount must be re-paid in full when the property is sold. Eligable not-for-profit organizations could also be eligable for a property tax rebate on an annual basis. Check to see if you are or your organization is eligable.

Let your voice be heard and make a suggestion to the city. Most recently over 500 Ward 7 residents voiced the need for a children's splash pad in the southwest corner of our city. This was voted down at Council however I will continue to explore other avenues to make this a reality as this is what you have asked for. All suggestions that receive 500 votes will be reviewed by city staff and brought forward to City Council for consideration. Click on the image above to submit your suggestion.
